Low's hesitant chords and breathy vocals are a fitting melancholy to welcome in the new year. Eight short tracks unwrapping over thirty beautiful minutes, 'Christmas' is festive music like you've never heard it before.
'Silent Night' slowed to an imperceptible shuffle: each chord a delicately sustained harmony; each chord a moment to treasure. 'Taking Down the Tree': Christmas - over, but the memories - lingering.
At the EPs core, two standards, one beautiful contrast:
'Little Drummer Boy' - a cold winter's morning. Frost sparkling on spacious fields. The dew, crisp, clinging to the grass in icy, refractive beauty.
'If You Were Born Today' - a warm winter's night. A slowly dying fire bathed in orange glow. White hot embers, pulsating and flickering - mesmerising.
