A large mouth, two river banks with 2.6 million inhabitants, 100,000 of them crossing the river daily by ferry, like a pendulum. At the border between city and river, a spring of noise bursts.
There is no such thing as pure sound - the human ear is a filtering machine. In each complex noise, you hear what you are conformed to, everything else is filtered out and ignored.
'Lisbon, subtitled 'Poring Over the River', was recorded at the river bank, filtered through someone's ears and voiced through a computer.
ru*mor* (Rui Viana Pereira) has collaborated with numerous artists worldwide particularly with authors from the areas of theatre, dance, video and fine arts.
Pereira uses sound as a tiny piece in a puzzle, or as a scenic element; so, in each work, the sound part should be viewed in the wider context of the work.
