Slub: process-based sonic improvisations; live generative music using hand-crafted Macintosh and Unix applications (in networked synchrony).
With roots in UK electronica and tech culture, Slub build their own software environments for creating music in realtime. Only custom composition and DSP software is used - everything you hear is formed by human minds. The result is a rich, multilayered sound; fully controlled, but unpredictable to the point that every performance is different.
20010203_(folded) and 20010307_(folded) were folded down from two earlier, sprawling 20+ minute compositions (20010203.mp3 and 20010307.mp3 respectively).
Fodder releases are 'packaged' using MP3 and PDF technologies for pure digital distribution. Consisting of virtual 'A' and 'B' sides created to fit within a download-friendly format, each release on Fodder features specially commissioned artwork housed within a standardised format supplied in Adobe's popular PDF format. Embracing a 'distribute then print' concept, each release is designed to be easily assembled once downloaded.
The Series design by Fällt designers Fehler has featured in 'Sampler 3' by design critic Adrian Shaughnessy and 'CD Art - Innovation in CD Packaging Design'.
